WRDTP Network Awards 2018/19
WRDTP ESRC Network Awards 2018/19: Guidance Notes for academic colleagues submitting a project proposal to the WRDTP
WRDTP ESRC Network Awards (1x network, 100% funded, ie. 3 studentships)
The DTP is offering one new White Rose Network which is thematic and challenge focused. Preference will be given to proposals linked to the ESRC research priorities, as identified in ESRC Delivery Plan 2016-20 (Productivity, Understanding the macro-economy, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Housing, Ways of Being in a Digital Age ), though other research areas will be considered.
The Networks will be fully funded by the WRDTP (with co-funding from the White Rose University Consortium), though there MUST also be collaboration with an external partner (private sector, public sector or civil society/third sector etc).
Each studentship is distributed, bilateral and involves two supervisors – a principal supervisor per White Rose institution (Leeds, Sheffield University, York) and the co-supervisor at the partner institution. Each Network therefore consists of six academics and three PhD students. One academic (either principal or co-supervisor) will act as a Network leader.
Process and timeframe
The timeframe for handling these particular awards is different from the other awards given differences in the approval process. We are inviting academic units to submit project proposals, using the form below, to the WRDTP Academic Quality Committee (AQC), by 12:00 noon 8 December 2017.
The Academic Quality Committee (AQC) will then determine which are to be supported, with the successful School/Department notified of the outcome by the end of January 2018. These awards can then be advertised via the relevant University/School/Department website for student applications, with a deadline to be set internally by the relevant unit. The Schools/Departments will then relay to the AQC via the WRDTP Office their preferred candidates for final approval by April 4, 12:00 noon 2018.
