All new PhD Social Sciences doctoral researchers from the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York are warmly invited to attend the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre Welcome Event, 23 October 2015, at Sheffield United Football Club, Bramall Lane, Sheffield.
This is a compulsory event for ESRC funded students.
This is the first of the WRDTC events and conferences in 2015-16 and forms one part of the wide range of training events and courses offered to our post graduate research community.
The day begins with a welcome from the WRDTC Director, Martin Jones, to the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre and short talks from academic representatives at the Universities of Leeds and York, our training pathways and their doctoral researchers, and our Advanced Qualitative Methods and Advanced Quantitative Methods Network directors.
You will also have the opportunity to meet the current student Academic Quality Committee (AQC) representatives who will explain their role on the AQC as a student member and encourage you to get involved.
Also hear from current doctoral researchers their thoughts on ‘My first year as a doctoral researcher’.
After lunch, time will be set aside for networking and a poster exhibition, you will join other students from your Pathway areas to discuss ideas for future events, training and start to build a dynamic research network in your discipline.
We really enjoy welcoming our new doctoral researchers to the WRDTC social sciences research community and look forward to meeting you all.
